If you're not already familiar with our trips, we're sort of the "Home Depot" of mtn bike tours - everything you need & nothing you don't.

The idea is for you to ride a solid 3 days without ever having to worry about camps, gear, meals, shuttles or logistics. All you do is travel from point A to point B several times a day. And by traveling lite, you'll enjoy every mile.

You'll need to supply your own bike & camping gear for this event, which isn't much. All meals & camps are provided - you basically bring your bike, some clothes, toothbrush, a tent & sleeping bag. You'll receive detailed info about exactly what you'll need once registered.

100 Mile Single Track Bike Route - ColoradoWe'll supply everything you need once in camp & at sag points, your job is to happily spin pedals between those points. We do not guide the trail itself but do provide full route maps and detailed pre-ride briefings with all the goodies on secret trails, shortcuts & options. Of course, should the need arise we're prepared to handle any emergency & keep you safe.

About the bike - ideally, full-suspension's the way to go, it's simply more comfortable and will make the technical sections go easier. It's not necessary though, a hardtail is fine. SS's aren't recommended unless you're in exceptional shape & really know what you're doing.

Bike rentals are available in Salida. This is a good option if you'd like to try out a better bike for a long weekend.

A word about technical riding skills - there are some very technical stretches to this event. Without respectable technical ability, you'll find yourself walking a good bit in certain sections   It can be done, but will add several hours to your total ride time. This is real mountain biking and is not a beginner ride!

You'll also want to spend some time at altitude before coming out - the ride varies between 7000' & 12,000', so acclimatization before the trip is wise if you're prone to altitude sickness. Plus it makes the miles a little easier.

[Moderate to Advanced Bicycle Terrain - Full suspension bike recommended]Equally important is your sense of self-reliance. There ain't no bike shops or gas stations on trail. If you break it, you fix it, or corral someone else into doing it for you. We have the better part of a roving bike shop at aid stations & camp, but you're on your own while between those points. Check out quick how-to classes at local shops.

Expect moderate to advanced terrain at altitude, also several extended climbs. Descents will be some of the finest singletrack you'll ever experience, some technical, some glassy-smooth. The overall length of the days isn't overwhelming - you'll have plenty of time in camp to recharge with huge meals & great camaraderie while you circle the campfire with your new biking friends.
